Creative Teaching - Curriculum and Educational Technologies

Question: Discuss about the Creative Teaching, Curriculum and Educational Technologies. Answer: Introduction: Around 50 years ago an educator was defined as the person who used to help the student and usher them towards success. However, nowadays this teaching method is not enough for the success in career, college and citizenship. The 21st century skills movement is more than a decade old. Yet the educators are still trying to find out ways for further development in the education of 21st century. The education system of a country was built for a society and economy that has become nonexistent. In the era of manufacturing or agrarian society that existed nearly 50 years ago, it was sufficient to get well acquainted of the Three Rs which are reading, writing and arithmetic (Skinner 2016). However, in the recent times or in the era of Flat world, mastering these three Rs are not enough. If the modern students want to compete in the modern world and societal structure they should be well efficient in the process of communicator, creator, critical thinkers and collaborators. These factors when taken together are known as the four Cs. The importance of these four Cs is explained one by one below: There is an obvious link between education and critical thinking, as a person cannot learn if he or she is not able to think in a well efficient manner. Critical thinking contributes to the human life in a two way process as it helps in career success as well as to achieve success in higher level education. Students should also be efficient in analyzing as well as processing the outstandingly large amount of communications in their daily lives. This will help them to determine and distinguish the correct information. After determining the correct information, it will help them to use this information in proper places in a proper way. In order to understand collaboration, an example can be provided. Websites like Wikipedia have interlinked the world and focuses on the welfares of collaborative work. The resulting end products are simply those articles in which millions of other people have contributed. These articles can be understood easily and this clearly depicts the culture of collaboration of the website. This also portrays how the team work of people can give rise to inclusive and appreciated resources. According to Skinner (2016), the future of the world is in the hands of the people with a different kind of mind and who are potential creators and innovators. These people will definitely reap off the richest rewards of the society and share this greatest joy. If the students leave school without an idea of how to innovate and create, they will be completely unprepared to face the challenges imposed by the society or workforce. Paradox of teaching: From the viewpoint of the students it can be said that the processes of teaching which are adopted and then the students instantly oppose deviations from their ideal situation. In fact the teacher is forced by the students to take a strong control over the communication process between teacher and students. This is explained in the form of a paradox: the students exert pressure over the teacher to impose control over them (Brady and Bates 2016). Reference List: Brady, N. and Bates, A., 2016.
